71st National Independence Day Celebration
The Divisional Secretariat level National Independence Day celebration, which was organized to celebrate 71st Independence Day concurrently with main national program was held at the Mahawilachchiya Divisional Secretariat premises in a splendid manner on February 04,2019 under the patronage of Mahawilachchiya Divisional Secretary Mr. E.R. Thilakarathna with the participation of whole staff commemorating its independence from British rule on February 04, 1948.
The event commenced with the Divisional Secretary hoisting the National Flag. Then National Anthem was sung , which was followed by a two minutes silence observed in memory of the fallen war heroes.
Making his address to the staff , Divisional Secretary said that as government officers everyone should carry out their duties properly and contribute to achieve a sustainable development in Sri Lanka. Finally marking the 71st Independence celebration Shramadana campaign was held with the participation of all members of the staff.
